What a wonderful last day at Mwegera! After a busy morning of lessons, the surprise was unveiled...all children and staff were presented with a specially designed t-shirt to celebrate the link between Wetherby and Mwegera School. As you will see from the pictures, everyone was thrilled with these and a rapturous applause sounded throughout the classrooms.
The afternoon was spent playing an assortment of games both inside and outside of the classroom. These included: relay races, cricket, the hokey cokey and 'hen, hen, goat' (an adaptation of 'duck, duck, goose')!
The headteacher, Papias, unveiled a surprise for us...the children at Mwegera had written letters in response to the Wetherby profile books sent out at Easter. This was such a touching gesture and we know that the Wetherby boys are really going to enjoy reading them.
It has been a privilige to work with such happy and enthusiastic teachers and children, who are all so enormously grateful. They have asked us to thank the Wetherby community for their ongoing support. Although it was sad to wave goodbye, we really hope to return next summer and strengthen our links with Mwegera further.
